Car Park Line Marking & Painting.

Professional car park line marking and painting for commercial and public-facing sites across the UK — keeping parking areas clear, safe, and easy to navigate.

C&R helps clients keep parking areas clear, safe, and easy to navigate — from busy supermarket car parks and retail parks to logistics depots, hospitals, and business premises.

With over 30 years' experience, our team delivers durable, high-visibility markings that improve traffic flow, separate vehicles and pedestrians, support accessibility, and maintain a tidy, professional appearance. We plan work around your operating hours and site constraints to minimise disruption.

Our specialists apply clear bay layouts, directional arrows, pedestrian routes, hatch markings, loading and service zones, symbols, and stencils — with colour-coded areas where required — so your car park works better for customers, staff, and deliveries.

Our expertise

Tailored solutions
for every site.

From compact business premises to multi-storey complexes, we design and apply markings that suit your layout, traffic movement, and operational needs. Whether you're refreshing worn bays or reconfiguring an entire car park, we'll help you create a safer, more efficient space.

Materials & lifespan

The right material for how your car park is used.

Markings aren't all the same — the material decides how long they last and what they cost over their life. We specify the option that fits your surface, your traffic, and your budget, and explain the trade-offs before you commit.

Lasts 5–10 years

Hot-applied thermoplastic.

Melted and laid into the surface with reflective glass beads through it, so it bonds hard and stays visible at night. The durable, reflective default for most asphalt car parks.

Best for Asphalt car parks, bays, arrows, and high-traffic exterior areas.

Lasts up to 10 years

MMA cold plastic.

A two-part system that cures by chemical reaction — no heat, sets in minutes, and stands up to the heaviest wear. It reopens quickly, which keeps disruption down on busy sites.

Best for Ramps, entrances, EV bays, and the busiest, highest-wear zones.

Lasts 1–3 years

Line-marking paint.

The lightest, most economical option, applied quickly with the shortest closure. A sensible choice where markings are refreshed more regularly or budgets are tighter.

Best for Lower-traffic areas, quick refreshes, and budget-conscious sites.

Compare at a glance

The marking materials, side by side.

There's no single best material — there's a best one for how your surface is used. Here's how the common options compare on how quickly they're ready, how long they last, and what they suit. These are typical ranges; the right choice depends on traffic, surface, and weather, which we talk through before we quote.

Material Ready to use Typical lifespan Up-front cost Best for
Hot-applied thermoplastic 5–30 minutes (sets as it cools) Roads 3–5 years · car parks 5–10 years Mid Everyday lines and bays on busy roads and car parks
MMA cold plastic 10–60 minutes (no heat needed) Up to 7–10 years (the most durable) Higher High-stress spots — ramps, entrances, junctions and cold-weather jobs
Preformed thermoplastic Near-immediate Long; suits heavy traffic Higher Symbols, arrows, disabled bays and bespoke graphics
Line-marking paint Showerproof in about an hour 1–3 years Lower Lower-traffic areas and lines that are refreshed more often

Is your car park up to standard?

Run through these next time you're on site. They're the things that keep a car park safe, usable and accessible — and the things that get noticed when they're wrong. If you can't tick them all, they're exactly what we'd put right.

  • Accessible bays are a usable size, with the hatched access zone marked, and there are enough for your visitors.

  • Pedestrian routes are clearly separated from moving traffic, with marked crossing points.

  • Every bay, arrow and line can still be read clearly — nothing worn or faded.

  • Fire lanes and keep-clear zones are marked and kept unobstructed.

  • The way through is obvious — arrows, one-way routes and give-way lines where they're needed.

  • The surface is sound, with markings bonded and not lifting where it's breaking up.

Couldn't tick them all? That's a normal place to start — tell us what your car park looks like and we'll advise on what, if anything, needs doing.

FAQs

Answered before
you ask.

The questions procurement, estates and facilities teams ask us most often.

How long do car park line markings last?
It depends on the material, the traffic the surface takes, and how well the area was prepared before marking. As a general guide, standard line-marking paint lasts around one to three years in a car park, hot-applied thermoplastic typically lasts five to ten years, and MMA cold-plastic systems can last close to a decade in high-wear areas. We recommend the right material for your site and how you use it.
Which marking material is best for a car park?
There isn't a single best material — there's a best material for the job. Thermoplastic is the durable, reflective choice for most asphalt car parks. MMA cures quickly without heat and stands up to the heaviest wear, which makes it well suited to ramps, entrances and EV bays. Paint is the lightest, most economical option where markings are refreshed more often. We talk this through before we quote.
Do disabled parking bays need to meet a particular standard?
Accessible bays should follow recognised guidance on size, layout and markings so they're genuinely usable — including the bay itself, the access space around it, and clear symbols. We set these out correctly as part of the wider layout and can advise on the current guidance for your type of site.
Can you re-mark our car park without closing it?
In most cases, yes. We plan work around your operating hours and can mark in phases or overnight so the car park stays usable. Fast-curing materials let us reopen areas quickly, which keeps disruption to a minimum on live retail and commercial sites.
Do you prepare the surface before marking?
Yes. Good preparation is what makes markings last. We clean and, where needed, shot blast the surface before applying thermoplastic, MMA or coatings, so the new markings bond properly and stay crisp for longer. We can also remove old or incorrect lines first.
How do we know when our markings need refreshing?
Faded, worn or inconsistent markings are the usual sign — particularly where bays, arrows or pedestrian routes have become hard to read. Worn markings make a car park harder to use and can undermine safety and accessibility. If you're not sure, we're happy to take a look and advise on what, if anything, needs doing.
